TOPIC: Understanding Discipline (Seeds Of Destiny 19 April 2025)
SCRIPTURE: “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” 1 Corinthians 9:27
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Discipline is key to distinction.
Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2025 MESSAGE:
Discipline is essential for greatness. Every great man or woman in history embraced discipline as a fundamental principle.
No wonder, 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 says: Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
Now, what is discipline?
- Discipline is doing what is required to see what is desired.
Discipline is the effort you invest to achieve what you want. Many people have desires, but only a few are willing to put in the work required to achieve their desires. That is why shortcuts and quick fixes are so prevalent in our world today. People want instant results—quick money, instant fame, etc.—without the required effort, and this often leads to compromise, failure and frustration. - Discipline is paying the price to gain the rise.
Every rise demands a price. Discipline is the price you pay to reach higher levels in life. A good example is a young man from our church who joined the U.S. Army. Upon completing his training, I asked him about the experience. He said: They would train your body to perform beyond its limits. When your body can no longer carry you, you must keep moving with your mind. That is discipline—pushing beyond physical limits to achieve greatness.
Beloved, discipline involves bringing your body under control and subjecting it to your will. It is critical for distinction and success. Make up your mind to embrace discipline so you can fulfil your destiny.
REMEMBER THIS: Discipline is key to distinction.
ASSIGNMENT:
- Make a deliberate decision to embrace discipline.
- Consistently do what is required to achieve your goals and reach your desired destination in life.
PRAYER: Father, I receive the grace and strength for discipline. Help me to do all that is required to get to where I need to be in life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
