BIBLE READING: Psalms 100:1-5

1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

MESSAGE:

As a child of God, you need to learn to offer God praises as you come into His presence. In Yorubaland, there is a main eulogizer in the palace who is always around the king. This eulogizer studies the king’s moods; if the king is sad or confused about a matter, the eulogizer begins to praise him and remind him of how he overcame a similar situation in the past. For instance, he could remind the king of how he fought a thousand demons or crossed a hundred oceans to bring deliverance to his people. The eulogizer sometimes paints such metaphoric images (even if they aren’t 100% true) just to improve the king’s mood.

My mother used this tactic to always get my school fees from my father. He was obviously poor and not a fighter, yet my mother would hail him, saying that he killed wild animals all by himself and single-handedly took down an entire army. I used to wonder if, when, and how such events ever happened; however, it always worked like magic on my dad.

When you praise and hail God from the depth of your heart, He responds to you with blessings, favour, mercy, and joy such that people would begin to wonder if you’re the only one serving God.

Quiz: Mention the names of the two people in book of Acts who praised God together until they were delivered from prison?

KEY POINT:
Praise never fails.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Judges 19:1-20:48, John 3:3

HYMN: 16 – Praise Him, Praise Him Jesus Our Blessed Redeemer

1 Praise Him! praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
Sing, O earth, His wonderful love proclaim!
Hail Him, hail Him! Highest angels in glory!
Strength and honor give to His holy name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard his children.
In His arms He carries them all day long.
O ye saints that dwell on the mountain of zion
Praise Him! praise Him!
Ever in joyful song!

2 Praise Him! praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
For our sins He suffered and bled and died;
He, our Rock, our Hope of eternal salvation,
Hail Him! hail Him! Jesus, the Crucified;
Loving Savior, meekly enduring sorrow,
Crowned with thorns that cruelly pierced His brow;
Once for us rejected, despised, and forsaken,
Prince of Glory, ever triumphant now.

3 Praise Him! praise Him!
Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
Heav’nly portals, loud with hosannas ring!
Jesus, Savior, reigneth for ever and ever;
Crown Him! crown Him! Prophet and Priest and King!
Death is vanquished! Tell it with joy, ye faithful,
Where is now thy victory, boasting grave?
Jesus lives! No longer thy portals are cheerless;
Jesus lives, the mighty and strong to save.
