TOPIC: Long Suffering (Scroll down for RCCG House Fellowship 25 October 2026 Anthem)

OPENING PRAYER: Father, help me to endure till the end.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leader is to remind the members of the lesson on God’s best friends.

MEMORY VERSE: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)

BIBLE TEXT: Ephesians 4:2 (KJV)

2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Longsuffering means enduring injury, offence, delay, or provocation without revenge. It is patience under pressure. It is the strength to keep loving and forgiving when quitting seems easier. This nature is in God: slow to anger, giving room for repentance. Longsuffering is not weakness; it is controlled strength. Every believer is called to reflect this character.

LESSON AIM: To help members have knowledge on the subject of longsuffering.

TEACHING OBJECTIVE: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to:

  1. Know why long-suffering.
  2. Know what to do

TEXT REVIEW: EPHESIANS 4:2

  1. A child of God has to be humble and gentle.
  2. Be patient with each other.
  3. Believers are to make allowance for each other’s faults.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE: WHY LONGSUFFERING?

Longsuffering is more than ordinary patience – It is patience with people, especially those who hurt, disappoint, misunderstand, or oppose us. It helps a believer to control anger, avoid revenge, and respond with love rather than frustration.

  1. It reveals the nature of God. (Psalm 86:15)
  2. It preserves unity in families, church and relationships. (Proverbs 15:1)
  3. It helps our spiritual growth through trials. (James 1:3-4)
  4. It is a silent evangelism; it speaks louder than words. (1 Peter 2:19-23)
  5. Because God patiently endured us first. (Romans 2:4)

LESSON OUTLINE TWO: BENEFITS AND BIBLICAL EXAMPLES.

Benefits:

  1. Brings peace and emotional stability.
  2. Restores relationships and prevents bitterness.
  3. Breaks anger, revenge and malice.
  4. Protects destinies from wrong decisions.
  5. Has a heavenly reward. (Hebrews 6:12)

Examples:

  1. God endured Israel for generations.
  2. Noah preached 120 years amid mockery. (Gen. 6–7)
  3. Joseph endured betrayal and prison. (Gensis 50:20)
  4. David spared Saul repeatedly. (1 Samual 24)
5 Jesus endured the cross for us. (Isaiah 53:7)

SUMMARY: Longsuffering leads to peaceful relationships, spiritual growth, and divine reward because those who endure with a right heart will always experience God’s help and perfect timing.

CONCLUSION: Longsuffering is proof of Christ in us. A believer without endurance cannot reflect Jesus fully. As God is patient with our weaknesses, we must extend the same grace to others – homes, offices, the church and the lost. Longsuffering is optional for believers; it is a kingdom lifestyle.

PRAYER POINTS.

  1. Thank You, Lord, for Your patience toward me.
  2. Father, produce longsuffering in me by Your Spirit.
  3. Deliver me from anger and impatience.
  4. Help me to forgive like Jesus.
  5. Let my life reflect Your patience daily.
