TOPIC: Be Grateful (Open Heaven for Teens, 24 May 2025)

MEMORISE: Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Psalms 103:2

BIBLE READING: LUKE 17:11-19

11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

MESSAGE:

Ingratitude is an act of robbery against God. It is dangerous not to be grateful because whoever does not show gratitude to God cannot experience joy in full.

In today’s Bible reading, after the Lord Jesus Christ healed ten lepers, only one of the ten came back to show gratitude. He then asked the one who came back, “…Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger” (Luke 17:17- 18). Only the leper that returned to show gratitude received fullness of joy among the ten lepers; he was made whole, and this meant that there was no single trace or scar of leprosy found on his body.

My dear child, from today, count your blessings daily and give God thanks for all He has done, all He’s doing, and all He will still do for you.

PRAYER POINT:
I will never be ungrateful to you Lord.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
2 Samuel 4:1-6:23, John 13:31-14:14

HYMN 63: O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing

1 O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of his grace!

2 My gracious Master and my God,
Assist me to proclaim,
To spread thro’ all the earth abroad
The honours of your name.

3 Jesus! the name that charms ourfears,
that bids our sorroWs cease,
‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears,
‘Tis life and health and peace.

4 He breaks the power of cancelled sin,
He sets the prisoner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean;
His blood availed for me.

5 Hear Him, ye dear, His praise, ye dumb,
Your loosened tongues employ
Ye blind behold your Saviour Come;
And leap, ye lame, for joy.
