Memorise: “There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.”1 Corinthians 14:10

Read: 1 Corinthians 14:10-11

10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

Bible In One Year: Psalm 50-52, Acts 27:1-25

MESSAGE:

It is believed that the culture of a people is embedded in their language, that is, if you can learn the language of a particular tribe, you can understand and live by their culture. The number of a tribe can easily be recognized by the language he speaks or the way he speaks another language. In the same vein, when you hear a Christian talk, you can tell that this is a Christian, also, when you hear a hoodlum talk, you can tell that this is a hoodlum.

What usually happens is that they lace their sentences with slangs from the group they belong to. A Christian for example will promise “By the Grace of God”. Many Christian teenagers are borrowing slangs from the world and saying them with pride, without realizing that they are learning the culture of the world along with the language. They are also identifying themselves with the world whenever they speak.

Key Point:

Stop using world slangs, it does not make you cool, rather, itj tells every that you are not a Christian.

Hymn 8:

1 Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.

2 Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above,
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

3 To all life thou givest to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish, but nought changeth Thee.

4 Great Father of Glory, pure Father of Light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
All laud we would render; o help us to see;
‘Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee.

5 Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.
