TOPIC: Buying Time (Scroll down for RCCG House Fellowship 26 October 2025 Anthem)

OPENING PRAYER: OPENING PRAYER: Father, please give me grace to make up for the lost time and opportunity.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leaders should remind the members of the lesson taught last week on the betrayals, their attributes and the need for believers to stand firm against their tricks.

MEMORY VERSE: “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:” – Proverbs 6:10 (KJV)

BIBLE TEXT: Proverbs 6:6-11 (KJV)

6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: One may wonder how possible it is to buy time. However, buying time refers to being able to make up for the time that may have been lost due to negligence, procrastination, delay and situations out of one’s control. It is the capacity of doing what you were not previously able to do because of certain circumstances or hindrances. Our loving Heavenly Father is very much interested in us making the life He has given to us. As such, He can make us retrieve all lost time, restore all missed opportunities and help us to fulfil divine purpose and mandate for our lives.

LESSON AIM: To make members understand that missed opportunities can be retrieved if we avoid complacency and delay.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to;

  • Know that to actualize vision, you must make haste.
  • Know that there are dangers in delay.

TEXT REVIEW: Proverbs 6:6-11

  • Lazy fellows are advised to take a lesson from ants.
  • Ants labour hard to gather food for summer without a leader.
  • For the lazy fellow that loves sleeping, poverty will creep on his or her like a robber.
  • Wants attack lazy fellow with full armour of robber and destroys.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE: MAKE HASTE TO ACTUALIZE GOD’S MANDATE

What is God’s mandate or vision for His children?

a. God wants us to occupy till He comes. Luke 19:12-13.

b. God wants us to redeem the time, i.e. take no part in worthless pleasures of evil and darkness but expose or rebuke them. Ephesians 5:11.

c. God wants His children to prosper, dominate and excel in every area. 3 John 2.

d. God wants His children to be productive in winning souls and make disciples. Proverbs 11.30, Matthew 28:19

e. God wants His children to activate God given resources to effect good success.

LESSON OUTLINE TWO: DELAY CAN BE DANGEROUS.

Looking at the story of David in 1 Samuel 17, though David knew God, he served Him and he conquered Goliath for him and the Israelites. He quickly acted and this action brought his enemy down. In this life, we need to be in action for God, no one knows when Jesus will come back for the saints, for this reason, Christians ought not to delay; in evangelizing lost souls, praying, Luke 18:1, doing good to others, supporting God’s work in our local churches in order to avoid:

  1. Being on the downward journey as believers. 2 Timothy 2-4
  2. Loss of talents and divine placement.
  3. Minding earthly things like Demas. Colossians 3:2.
  4. Losing great commission.
  5. Giving room for invaders and devourers. Judges 6:6

SUMMARY: “wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall – 1 Corinthians 10:12

CONCLUSION: It does not matter how far a Christian has drifted away from God, if only he/she can realize that time can be redeemed, progress can still be made. The believer has been ordained unto good works and must be aware of this in order to bear fruit of righteousness. You can still BUY BACK TIME!
