BIBLE READING: 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

MESSAGE:

When a fellow takes anything that belongs to another fellow without seeking permission from its owner, it is called stealing.

Years ago, when I was still a lecturer at the University of Lagos, I wanted to post a letter, but I did not have an envelope. I decided to use one from my department’s store, but I heard God ask me, “Is it yours?” I responded that what I wanted to do was important and envelopes were cheap anyway, but God rebuked me, saying, “Since you know that it is cheap, go and buy yours.” After that, I never attempted to take any official material for personal use.

God is very particular about the conduct of His children, even to the minutest detail, because He is a perfect God, and He wants them to be perfect. My dear child, do not take or use anything that belongs to another fellow without his or her permission. When the fellow finds out, he or she may label you a thief, and even if nobody finds out, note that today’s memory verse says that no thief will make it to heaven.

KEY POINT:
Do not take what does not belong to you.
