Memorise: “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy”. Romans 9:16

Bible Reading: Romans 9:9-16

9 God promised, “I will return at the appointed time. Sarah will have a son.” (Genesis 18:10,14)
10 And that’s not all. Rebekah’s children had the same father. He was our father Isaac.
11 Here is what happened. Rebekah’s twins had not even been born. They hadn’t done anything good or bad yet. So they show that God’s purpose is based firmly on his free choice.
12 It was not because of anything they did but because of God’s choice. So Rebekah was told, “The older son will serve the younger one.”
13 It is written, “I chose Jacob instead of Esau.”
14 What should we say then? Is God unfair? Not at all!
15 He said to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy. I will show love to those I love.”
16 So it doesn’t depend on what we want or do. It depends on God’s mercy.

Bible Reading In One Year: Jeremiah 14-16; 1 Timothy 5:1-25

MESSAGE:

God’s call is intended to promote man. G In Genesis 12:1, God called Abraham out of his kindred to a different place entirely and he became very great afterwards. So, the moment you respond to His call, you are on the path to greatness. 1 Peter 2:9 says:

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light:”

God has also called everyone out of darkness into His marvellous light. Have you answered His call for your salvation? When you heed the call of salvation, you will begin to enjoy benefits such as academic excellence, sound health, divine provision et cetera. Apart from being called, we are chosen by God. Some fellows also are of the opinion that God chooses us the moment we give our lives to Him, this is not so. He chose us before we were born. God told Jeremiah that before He formed him in the belly, He knew him and ordained him a prophet to nations (Jeremiah 1:5 ). From today, live in this knowledge that you are Gods own and that He knows everything about you.

Action Point:

Choose God always, because He chose you first.

Hymn: Stand Up! Stand Up For Jesus

  1. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus,
    Ye soldiers of the Cross!
    Lift high His royal banner,
    It must not suffer loss.
    From victory unto victory
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
    The solemn watchword hear;
    If while ye sleep he suffers,
    Away with shame and fear.
    Where’re yeah meet with evil,
    Within you or without,
    Charge for the God of battles,
    And put the foe to rout.
  3. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
    Stand in His strength alone;
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own.
    Put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer;
    Where duty calls, or danger,
    Be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
    The strife will not be long;
    This day the noise of battle,
    The next the victor’s song.
    To him that overcometh
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    Shall reign eternally.
