MEMORISE: For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee. Deuteronomy 23:14
BIBLE READING: Deuteronomy 23:12-14
12 Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad:
13 And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:
14 For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.
MESSAGE:
In today’s Bible reading, God gave specific instructions on how the Israelites’ environment should be kept clean. This is because a clean environment contributes to good hygiene and health. When my children were younger, l ensured that they did a thorough cleaning of their rooms every Saturday with a special focus on their fans, window frames, the top of their wardrobes, underneath their beds, and water closets in the toilets.
Just because your room is a private space that many people do not get to see does not mean that it should be left unattended. The truth is that the things we do not see are as important as those we see, and sometimes, they are even more important. You may not see your liver or your intestines, but they play a vital role in your life. If you take care of the private and unseen parts of your life, it will improve your health and overall wellbeing.
My dear child, no one may applaud you for having a clean bedroom, but know that having good hygiene habits will lead to a healthy life.
KEY POINT:
To live a healthy life, maintain good hygiene.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Amos 7:1-9:15, Revelation 3:7-22
HYMN 28 – WHAT CAN WASH AWAY MY STAIN
1 What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain:
O precious is the flow
that makes me white as snow;
no other fount I know;
nothing but the blood of Jesus.
2 For my pardon this I see:
nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my cleansing this my plea:
nothing but the blood of Jesus. [Refrain]
3 Nothing can for sin atone:
nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Naught of good that I have done:
nothing but the blood of Jesus. [Refrain]
4 This is all my hope and peace:
nothing but the blood of Jesus.
This is all my righteousness:
nothing but the blood of Jesus. [Refrain]
