SCRIPTURE: But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, Luke 10:33

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Love is not defined by position, but by action.

Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2026 MESSAGE

The story of the Good Samaritan in Luke Chapter Ten reveals one of the deepest teachings on love. A certain man on his way from Jerusalem to Jericho was robbed, beaten, wounded, and left half dead by thieves. A priest saw him passed by on the other side without attending to him. Similarly, a Levite passed by on the other side, totally avoiding him. But a Samaritan, though considered an outsider, stopped, showed compassion, and saved the man’s life.

This story reveals a powerful truth: Love is not defined by position, but by action.

Before unravelling what love is all about, let us first establish some foundational truths:

  1. Love is the Nature and Character of God.
According to 1 John 4:8, God is love. Therefore, to know God is to walk in love.
  2. The earth was created by God (Love) and is sustained by love.
If God is love, then creation itself is a product of love—and must function by love.
  3. Man was created in the image of love.
Being made in God’s Image means we were designed to live and function as loving beings.
  4. The world malfunctions without love.
The wickedness, hatred, and selfishness we see today are signs of a system operating outside its divine design or blueprint.
  5. Man underlives and mis-lives without love.
When people live outside their nature (love), they fall short of their full potential and purpose.

Now, what is love all about?

  1. Love is treating others the way you want to be treated. Love is practical. It is doing to others what you would want others to do to you (Matthew 7:12).Love reflects empathy in relationships —family, workplace, leadership, and daily life.
  2. Love is having genuine concern for the feelings of others. Love considers the emotions, pain, and dignity of others. A loveless heart is hardened and indifferent to the feelings of others. But love makes one sensitive and compassionate.
  3. Love is maintaining goodwill towards others. Love celebrates others, not envying them. Bad will destroys, but goodwill attracts blessings. What you sow in attitude, you reap in life.
  4. Love is adding joy and fulfillment to others. A person who walks in love is a distributor of joy. Your presence should lift people, not drain them.
  5. Love is making positive differences in the lives of people. Love creates impact. Every meaningful contact with a loving person is meant to leave a positive mark. Contact without impact is a wasted opportunity.

Now, how do you walk in love?

  1. Walk closely with God. The closer you are to God, the more His Nature (love) flows through you.
  2. Understand that love is a decision. Love is not just an emotion; it is a choice. You choose to love even when it is not convenient.
  3. Grow in love intentionally. Love is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). It grows through consistent practice and conscious effort. The power of love is transformative. It heals, restores, lifts, and preserves.

Remember This: Love is not defined by position, but by action.

ASSIGNMENT(S)

  1. Make up your mind to be deliberate, intentional and practical about loving people.
  2. Practically show love to someone who is in need today. You can call someone you have not seen in church for a while; let them know how much you care.

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for revealing to me what love is. I receive the grace to walk in love, reflect Your Nature, and impact lives positively by the power of love, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
