TOPIC – Be Modest (Open Heaven for Teens, 29 August 2026)

MEMORISE: Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Philippians 4:5

BIBLE READING: 1 John 2:15-17

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

MESSAGE:

It is generally believed that fashion is based on culture; hence, people’s taste in fashion differ according to their culture. As a child of God, however, you must subject your taste in fashion to the word of God. Today’s Bible reading warns us that we are not to be in love with the things of the world; instead, we are to be modest in all we do, as we see in today’s memory verse.

My dear child, I want you to know that nothing is constant in life except the word of God. Fashion trends will come and go, but the word of God will always remain. Therefore, you should not let the world dictate how you should dress; instead, let the Holy Spirit lead you. Before you go out every day, ask Him, “What will you have me wear today?” Believe me, He will guide you.

Beloved, let the word of God be your guide in all you do, including the clothes you wear. In everything you do and wear, make sure that Jesus is glorified.

KEY POINT:
Your standard for dressing should be based on the Word of God and not on the dictates of the world.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Luke 7:31-50, Judges 3-5

HYMN 43 – Lead Us Heavenly Father, Lead Us

1 Lead Us, Heavenly Father, Lead Us
O’er The World’s Tempestuous Sea;
Guard Us, Guide Us, Keep Us, Feed Us,
For We Have No Help But Thee,
Yet Possessing Every Blessing
If Our God Our Father Be.

2 Saviour, Breathe Forgiveness O’er Us;
All Our Weakness Thou Dost Know;
Thou Didst Tread This Earth Before Us,
Thou Didst Feel lts Keenest Woe;
Lone And Dreary, Faint And Weary,
Through The Desert Thou Didst Go.

3 Spirit Of Our God, Descending,
Fill Our Hearts With Heavenly Joy,
Love With Every Passion Blending,
Pleasure That Can Never Cloy;
Thus Provided, Pardoned, Guided,
Nothing Can Our Peace Destroy.
