BIBLE READING: Psalms 119:9-11

9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

MESSAGE:

Today’s memory verse is one of the commandments that many Christians consider to be impossible to fulfil. However, it is very possible to be perfect. Perfection is about wholeness and purity, and it is viewed from three major perspectives in the Bible: physical, moral, and spiritual perfection.

Physical perfection is about being spotless, clean, and healthy on the outside. Moral perfection involves acting in a manner that is perceived as right at all times, whereas spiritual perfection focuses on achieving holiness and sanctification. A fellow who is lacking in any of these perspectives Cannot be said to be perfect. Owing to the belief that it is very difficult for a person to achieve perfection in all of these major perspectives, many people say that no one Can be perfect. However, I believe that since God commanded us to be perfect just as He is, it is achievable. I tell my children in The Redeemed Christian Church of God that no one who dwells in imperfection will make it to heaven; therefore, they must first believe that they can be perfect, and then God will back up their conviction with His grace.

My dear child, only the grace of God can make you perfect; however, you must first believe that it is possible. It is only after you believe that you Can thirst for sanctification and grow in the fruit of the Spirit.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to be perfect, just as You are.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 15:27-47, Deuteronomy 28

HYMN 74 – REVIVE THY WORK, O LORD

1 Revive Thy work, O Lord,
Thy mighty arm make bare;
speak with the voice that wakes the dead,
and make Thy people hear.

REFRAIN:

Revive Thy work, 0 Lord,
while here to Thee we bow;
descend, O gracious Lord, descend!
O come and bless us now.

2 Revive Thy work, O Lord,
now let us thirst for Thee;
and hung’ring for the bread of life
may all our spirits be.

3 Revive Thy work, O Lord,
exalt Thy precious name;
and, by the Holy Ghost, our love
for Thee and Thine inflame.

4 Revive Thy work, O Lord,
give pow’r unto Thy word;
grant that Thy blessed gospel may
in living faith be heard.

5 Revive Thy work, 0 Lord,
and give refreshing show’rs;
the glory shall be all Thine own,
the blessing, Lord, be ours.
