Topic: Accessing divine wisdom through the fear of the Lord!

Welcome to another fruitful week! I believe you have been impacted by the wisdom of God through the teachings of last week. Today, we shall focus on the topic: Accessing Divine Wisdom through the Fear of the Lord!

From scriptures, we understand that as children of the Most High God, divine Wisdom is our heritage in Christ and as such the manifestations of wisdom must be visible and tangible in everything we do. Jesus Christ once read in the Scripture saying: …wisdom is justified of her children (Matthew 11:19). As we all know, like begets like. God is the only wise God and His wisdom is beyond human realm; hence, as His beloved, we are ordained to replicate such attributes in all our life endeavors; thereby, making us living wonders on the earth.

But, what, then Is Divine Wisdom?

By divine wisdom, we mean the supernatural ability to bring solution to the dark matters that are too difficult for the human mind. Also, among others, divine wisdom, can be defined as putting God’s Word to work as it applies to every area of one’s life. As it is written: Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: (Matthew 7:24-25). Thus, the application of God’s Word is wisdom (Deuteronomy 28:1). In other words, our heritage of divine wisdom is absolutely at the mercy of our obedience to the instructions of Scripture. Nobody walks in divine wisdom without being tied to working the Word because the Word is God’s wisdom in print. However, there is always what to do from Scripture to access this wisdom.

How, then Do We Access the Wisdom of God?

It is important to recognise that it is one thing to know our heritage of divine wisdom and another to access it. Importantly, one of the commandments from scriptures for accessing divine wisdom is the fear of the Lord. We recognise from Scripture, that among others, the fear of the lord is a basic requirement for anyone who craves divine wisdom. The scripture says: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever (Psalm 111:10). Essentially, the man who walks in the fear of the Lord has automatic access to supernatural wisdom.

What is the fear of the Lord?

The fear of the Lord connotes spirituality, which is fundamental to accessing divine wisdom. In addition, we saw from Scripture that: The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth … (Proverbs 8:13). It means to depart from evil. As far as God is concerned, if we are lovers of evil, then we do not fear Him. This is because: A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil… (Proverbs 14:16; Genesis 39:9). Let us note that sin is not a friend; but a destroyer any day and any time! This is why nothing devalues divine wisdom like sin because it disqualifies us from accessing divine wisdom.

From Biblical to contemporary times, what has distinguished men of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. For example, men like Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Gideon, Paul and many others validate this fact. For instance, Joseph a man of great wisdom said: …how can I do this great wickedness and sin against God (Genesis 39:9). On another occasion, He said: …For I fear God (Genesis 42:18).

Also, Job was a wise man and according to him the reason for his wisdom was the fear of the Lord (Job 28:28). Furthermore, we saw how Daniel would not defile himself with the king’s rich food and as such God lifted him as he was distinguished among His peers.

Besides, while Jesus was on the earth, men marvelled at His wisdom and said: what wisdom is this? But that was because He did not toy with sin (John 7:15). This shows that when we walk in the fear of the Lord, we end up in the wisdom of God. No doubt, anyone can be distinguished and enthroned on the earth today, if He/she parts ways with sin.

I would like us to know that sin is a sinker and can sink a man’s destiny. Remember, Solomon was an embodiment of divine wisdom in the Old Testament; yet his wisdom was corrupted through immorality which led to vanity upon vanity. This further helps us to understand that God is no respecter of person as He will turn His back on any one who toys with sin.

In conclusion, sin is a destroyer. Its victims always end their lives in regret. Therefore, there is a need to walk in purity to safeguard our destinies. However, for the redeemed that fear God; receive a fresh baptism of the Spirit of wisdom that will take you to the realm of exploits, victory and outstanding successes, in Jesus’ name!

Nevertheless, without salvation, you don’t have access to the wisdom of God. So, to operate the wisdom of God, you need to be born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!”
