TOPIC: Seduction

READ: 1 John 2:18-27 (NKJV)

  1. Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.
  2. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but [they went out] that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.
  3. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
  4. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
  5. Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.
  6. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
  7. Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.
  8. And this is the promise that He has promised us — eternal life.
  9. These things I have written to you concerning those who [try to] deceive you.
  10. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

THE MESSAGE:

From creation till now, Satan has not relented in fighting to control the soul of man. He visited man in the Garden of Eden and inflicted a great injury on his destiny until the coming of Jesus Christ. As much as the victory over Satan through the death of Christ subsists, Satan has not relented in his subtlety to seek for ways to re-imprison man. This he does through seduction as typified in false doctrines and teachings which have been around from the inception of the Church. This is the reason the Apostles made sure that the details of our faith were put in plain terms called the Apostles’ Creed.

Because the salvation of man is delivered in Jesus Christ, there has been a concerted effort to deny that Jesus is the Christ. Our text enjoins us today to abide by the unchanging word of God wherein we see Jesus Christ as the Author and Finisher of our faith. Any contrary teaching and doctrine is that of the Antichrist which are sometimes peddled by some of those who had been with us in the faith, and most times, coated with exciting words that take only discerning hearts to see their falsehood. We must continually guard our faith by watching who we sit under and where we get our spiritual nourishment from.

PRAYER: Grant me a discerning heart O Lord that I may know and live by the truth always.
