TOPIC: Gratitude

READ: Micah 6:1-5 (NKJV)

  1. Hear now what the LORD says: “Arise, plead your case before the mountains, And let the hills hear your voice.
  2. Hear, O you mountains, the LORD’s complaint, And you strong foundations of the earth; For the LORD has a complaint against His people, And He will contend with Israel.
  3. “O My people, what have I done to you? And how have I wearied you? Testify against Me.
  4. For I brought you up from the land of Egypt, I redeemed you from the house of bondage; And I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
  5. O My people, remember now What Balak king of Moab counseled, And what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, From Acacia Grove to Gilgal, That you may know the righteousness of the LORD.”

THE MESSAGE:

It is only love that can make a father get to the point of pleading with his child. God is so gracious that He is pleading with Israel, asking them to remember what Balak counseled, and what Balaam answered (verse 5). He, on this occasion, stood as always, for Israel. He had earlier reminded them that He brought them up from the house of bondage; He redeemed them from Egypt (verse 4). It is always important to recall God’s gracious dealings. A good response to His saving grace is to give Him praise and live in obedience to His will

Appreciative worship should be constant with us if we are saved. After all, we can only enter His gates with thanksgiving and can only approach His courts with praise. This is the prescribed way to enter. Every other way is an attempt to “gate-crash.” When last did you deliberately thank God for saving you? Are you so used to asking, but only give a passive and casual “thank you?” Moreover, it is important that you check your current standing with God. Is God asking what He has done to you (verse 3) that you’re treating Him the way you are doing? Are you living only to ask for things without pausing frequently to give Him praise? Consider your ways!

PRAYER: Deliberately give Him praise today for the gift of salvation.
