TOPIC: The Acid Test Of Unrighteousness

READ: Ephesians 2:1-3 (NKJV)

  1. And you [He made alive,] who were dead in trespasses and sins,
  2. in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
  3. among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

The MESSAGE:

Historically, metals are tested with acid to prove whether they are really gold, hence the name acid test. Similarly, today’s passage outlines behaviours that depict a life of sin: 1) Habitual walk-in trespasses and sins 2) Deadness of conscience to sin 3) Obedience to the control of demonic spirits 4) Rebellion to the purposes and words of God 5) Obedience to fleshly impulses, cravings of the senses, mind and imaginations 6) Swaying to the tendencies of the present age. Such behaviours due to the inherited nature of sin from Adam attracts God’s wrath.

Romans 5:10 states that through one man’s (Adam) disobedience, we became sinners and by one man’s (Jesus) obedience, we become righteous. The acid test of whether you are a candidate of God’s wrath and fiery impending judgment is in whether you are exhibiting one or more of the above listed behaviours. You don’t have to remain that way.

The good news is that we have been liberated. God in His rich mercy saved and made us alive, destroyed the powers that held us captive to fleshly impulses, cravings and rebellion towards God. How is your life? Have you received regeneration through the saving power of the Lord Jesus Christ? Repent and invite Jesus into your heart before it is too late. (Read Ezek. 36: 25 to 27).

PRAYER: Into my heart (2x), Come into my heart, Lord Jesus. Come in to save, come in to stay, Come into my life, Lord Jesus
