TOPIC: The Blessed One

READ: Psalm 119: 1-8(NKJV)

  1. Blessed [are] the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the LORD!
  2. Blessed [are] those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart!
  3. They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways.
  4. You have commanded [us] To keep Your precepts diligently.
  5. Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes!
  6. Then I would not be ashamed, When I look into all Your commandments.
  7. I will praise You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments.
  8. I will keep Your statutes; Oh, do not forsake me utterly!

The MESSAGE:

In our text for today, the Psalmist writes about the blessed ones and the need for one to live according to the commandments of the Lord. The blessed one is holy, walks in God’s law, keeps His testimonies, seeks God with the whole heart, hates sin and lives according to the will of God. The people of God are commanded to keep His precepts diligently, and if one lives by His statutes, one would not be ashamed. Rather, such a person will gladly praise God for His righteous judgments. The Psalmist also pays for God to direct him and not to forsake him utterly.

To be blessed means to be in an enviable position of receiving God’s favour, as an extension of His grace. Many people desire to be blessed but God has already blessed the believer with spiritual blessings which outweigh earthly blessings (Ephesians 1:3). Believers have also been blessed because God chose them and adopted them into His family (Ephesians 1: 4-6). Do you want to be blessed by God? Then you must receive Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour and you will be sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13) and become a member of God’s family.

PRAYER: Jesus, I surrender my life to You today.
