TOPIC: The Purpose Of His Miracles
READ: JOHN 2: 11-12 (NKJV)
- This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.
- After this He went down to Capernaum, He, His mother, His brothers, and His disciples; and they did not stay there many days.
THE MESSAGE:
Very often, success and glory, not problems and adversities, are the real tests of faith and humility that we face. It is very easy to get lost in the euphoria of God’s favour, blessings and interventions that one can forget that God’s blessings are not primarily for our own sakes. At the wedding at Cana in Galilee, Jesus saved the day by miraculously turning water into wine. No doubt people drank and enjoyed the sweet wine that God had graciously provided and the bridegroom and his new bride (and perhaps their relations) went home that night heaving long sigh of relief that they had been saved from a huge embarrassment. But note that what Jesus did was that He “manifested His glory.” This also strengthened the faith of His disciples.
If God brings a miracle of whatever kind into your life, let it result in acts and testimonies that direct glory back to Him and edify the faith of His people; otherwise, the purpose of that miracle would be defeated. God’s power and blessings in your life are not to stir up pride and arrogance but to be handled with humility, resulting in glory for Him and the building of the faith of many. God’s answer to your prayers is never because of how strong and special you are, but only about Him seeking to glorify Himself through you. Do not steal God’s glory!
PRAYER: Loving Father; help me to always remember to give glory to You for all You do in me and through me. Amen.
