TOPIC: A Great Redeemer

Read: Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV)

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

THE MESSAGE:

Apostle Paul in our text tells us that though the Law and persecution of all who do not keep the Law are perfectly cursed by it (Deuteronomy 27:26, 3:10). This is because no one can, on his or her part, obey the Law perfectly. There were over 600 laws that the Jews had in the eyes of God, breaking one commandment put a person under condemnation. Therefore, achieving salvation through obedience to the Law is fruitless. As a result, all who tried to live by the Old Law were cursed.

The good news is that Christ, through His death on the cross, provided a way out of this curse, making the way for us to regain God’s favour. He did this by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree.” The curse of the Law fell on Christ on our behalf so that the righteousness of God could fall on us, though we did not deserve it (2 Corinthians 5:21). He took away our sins and curses so that the blessings of Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Him. Every man is condemned and cursed, but the redemptive grace of Jesus brought us all into God’s favor and blessings, and we can access this grace by believing in the Lord Jesus and living by faith to receive the blessings that accompany faithful observance of the law.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I thank You for offering Yourself to save me. I now ask for the grace to live for You for the rest of my life. Amen!
