TOPIC: God’s Judgement Is Certain

READ: Ecclesiastes 3:16-22 (NKJV)

  1. Moreover I saw under the sun: [In] the place of judgment, Wickedness [was] there; And [in] the place of righteousness, Iniquity [was] there.
  2. I said in my heart, “God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, For [there is] a time there for every purpose and for every work.”
  3. I said in my heart, “Concerning the condition of the sons of men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are [like] animals.”
  4. For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all [is] vanity.
  5. All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust.
  6. Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?
  7. So I perceived that nothing [is] better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that [is] his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?

THE MESSAGE:

Life seems complex when there are contradictions in the moral behaviour of people. The writer of this book looked into places that he thought he could see fairness and justice but only saw wickedness and injustice. He carefully looked into the places of righteousness and all he discovered was iniquity. He understood that people of different classes in both secular and spiritual fields, were operating outside the perfect will of God. They threw away fairness and justice, only to embrace wickedness and injustice.

Today, if we look around, is it the same? To what level has wickedness and injustice taken over the position of fairness and justice? In different work places, it has become the norm of the day. In the family and at various governmental levels, are we just and fair to one another? Individual Christians that makeup the Church are expected to be righteous in all manners of life. We must know that as far as God is concerned, a payday is coming for everyone’s deeds, whether good or evil. We need to exhibit the fear of God and repent from all evil and ungodly actions so as to avert the wrath of God.

PRAYER: O Lord, help me not to please myself, but to fear You and to live in Your will through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
