TOPIC: Stimulation Of Faith
READ: 1 Thessalonians 3:1-6
1 Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;
2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.
4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
THE MESSAGE:
The words of Jesus Christ in John 16:33 “… in this world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” is a practical situation of the experience of Apostle Paul for his ministry towards the young church at Thessalonica (Acts 17:5-9). Though, they were pre-warned of the coming persecution, still the faith of the young brethren was unknown. So, Paul considered it wise to send Timothy to the Church to stimulate their zeal in Christ again. This shows leadership accountability (v. 1).
Timothy provided strength and encouragement to the young Church (v. 2). This effort worked to rescue those who might have fallen away (v. 3). They fought to ensure that their work had not been in vain (vv. 4-5). Timothy brought back a positive report of the Church to Paul and the brethren, of their growth and how they longed to see them (v. 6). How do you respond to challenges which you think would come in the lives of young brethren in our churches and society? (Gal. 6:2). It is the duty and responsibilities of Christian leaders to encourage and strengthen young believers by guiding and directing them on the right path and preventing them from falling. It is important that we review our commitment and service to the Lord along this line, daily.
PRAYER: Father, please grant me the enablement to be consistent in my walk with you.
