TOPIC: Manifesting The Nature Of God
READ: Matthew 2:16-18 (NKJV)
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
THE MESSAGE:
King Herod was very angry when the wise men failed to come and report to him after visiting Jesus. He therefore gave orders for the killing of all male children living in Bethlehem and its surroundings who were two years old or less. Herod thereby fulfilled the prophecy recorded in Jeremiah 31:15 concerning the lamentation in Ramah where Rachel was weeping for dead children and refused to be comforted.
The old serpent is described as being subtle (Genesis 3:1). God’s way of dealing with Satan is to beat him at his own game. Each time this happens, he is always full of rage and would vent his anger on the innocent (Revelation 12:17;1 Corinthians 2:8). Herod fits perfectly the description of Satan given above. Herod was beaten at his own game and his attack on the innocent shows that he was serving and manifesting the nature of Satan. Whose nature are you manifesting? Satan’s or God’s? Are you subtle in character? Christians must not allow anger to lead them into sin thereby giving room to Satan (Ephesians 4:26,27). What is your reaction whenever you are beaten at your own game? (1 John 3:7-8)
PRAYER: Father, please help me to manifest Your nature in all my dealings inJesus’Name. Amen
