Memorise: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2

Bible Reading: Genesis 18:2-10

  1. And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
  2. And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:
  3. Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:
  4. And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.
  5. And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.
  6. And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.
  7. And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.
  8. And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.
  9. And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.

Bible Reading In One Year: Nehemiah 4-6; Acts 2:14-47

MESSAGE:

Hospitality means to generously give to and take care of visitors. It is a tenet of good morals that is fast going down the drain in this generation. Whether you are a male or female, it pays to be hospitable.

Today’s Bible reading sheds more light on this. Abraham entertained guests and got a reaffirmation of Gods promise, this time with a time frame. The angel said: …by this time of life.

The interesting thing is, not even the unbelief of Sarah delayed the fulfilment of this prophecy. One of the things I love about my wife is her generosity towards guests. Nobody comes visiting and doesn’t feel welcomed. She also ensures that they go home with something from the house.

As a child of God, you need to learn from of this. There are different ways taking care of guests. Prepare the rooms they will sleep in if they would be spending the night or staying for a while.

Ensure that the meals are served on time, make their bath, make them comfortable. When you do these, guests will not only feel like calling again, God will also bless you.

Key Point:

Being hospitable portrays that you are a child of God.

Hymn: Is Your Life A Channel Of Blessing?

  1. Is your life a channel of blessing?
    Is the love of God
    flowing through you?
Are you telling the lost of the Saviour?
Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

  1. Is your life a channel of blessing?
    Are you burdened for
    those that are lost?
    Have you urged upon
    those who are straying,
The Saviour who died on the cross?
  2. Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is it daily telling for Him?
Have you spoken the word of salvation
To those who are dying in sin?
  3. We cannot be channels of blessing
    If our lives are not free from all sins;
We will barriers be and a hindrance
To those we are trying to win.
