MEMORISE: “Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.” – John 5:19

Read: Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Hosea 12-15; Revelation 3

MESSAGE:

Christ ‘before’ you talks about the kind of relationship you have with Him that makes Him want to defend you. Christ ‘with’ you talks of the kind of relationship that makes Him ever present with you. For every child of God, you need both of these relationships. May Christ be for and with you this season in Jesus’ name.

Another relationship with God can be inferred from Christ ‘before’ you. This speaks of divine guidance. Psalm 23:1-6 points a beautiful picture of Christ before you. When the Lord is before you, He takes the lead. He moves and follows you. With Christ before you, it becomes difficult to go in the wrong direction or make any mistake. Romans 8:18 says the ability to receive divine direction marks you out as a child of God.

If Christ is not stepping ahead of you, then you are not heading in the right direction. You have to cultivate the habit of asking Jesus for directions before you make any decision.

KEY POINT:

If you make decisions based on your own knowledge or wisdom, you are short changing yourself.

Hymn 14:

1 O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts and
Human woes abound.
Let every Christian tongue
Proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!

Chorus:
The Comforter has come!
The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n,
The Father’s Promise giv’n,
O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!

2 The long, long night is past;
The morning breaks at last;
And hushed the dreadful wail
And fury of the blast,
As o’er the golden hills
The day advances fast!
The Comforter has come!

3 Lo, the great Kings of Kings,
With healing in His wings,
To every captive soul a full
Deliv’rance brings;
And thro’ the vacant cells
The song of triumph rings;
The Comforter has come!

4 O boundless love divine!
How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell
The matchless grace divine-
That I, a child of hell,
Should in His image shine?
The Comforter has come!
