CoronaVirus or CoronaJesus? By Olubunmi Oloyede

Topic: CoronaVirus or CoronaJESUS?

As you may well be aware, Coronavirus is a combination of two words, Coronary and Virus. The word coronary refers to the protective ring of blood vessels surrounding the heart, supplying it with oxygen and other nutrients.

A Virus on the other hand is defined as a small infectious agent that replicates only inside the living cells of an organism and if my synthesis is accurate, then coronavirus is a ‘heart-breaking’ disease with only one mission and that is to kill, to steal and destroy. Similarly, CoronaJesus is a compound word too, Coronary + Jesus. Jesus is also an ‘infectious agent’, he infects human cells especially those within the heart, however in a good way! 2 Corinthians 5:17 says ‘if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature old things have passed away behold all things have become new….’ In other words, if anyone is infected by this ‘Virus’ called Jesus such a person is made new not blue, he/she is made whole not low. He (Jesus) himself said this in his own words “I am come that they might have life and have it in abundance “John 10:10b. Corona virus has come to kill without remedy but Jesus has come to redeem and save from tragedy. If you ask me, I’ll say CoronaJesus is a ‘pandemic’ worth having given the present situation. However, up until now, the world has rejected his coming; wouldn’t you agree with me the futility of the human wisdom? If not so, how then can we leave certainty for uncertainty, how can we choose poverty over and above prosperity and even more, how can we celebrate mortality at the expense of immortality? Well, I believe it’s not too late, this is a wakeup call for anyone who cares to listen, Coronavirus or CoronaJesus? Consider carefully the scriptures in John 3:16 -18:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

To reject Jesus means to welcome condemnation, condemnation could take many forms and that includes Coronavirus.

If you would like to accept Jesus into your heart as your lord and saviour, please say the prayer below:

Lord Jesus, I thank you for coming to save me from all destructions, I accept you today as my lord and saviour. Please save me from this destruction called Coronavirus in your most precious name. Amen.
