Topic: Rejecting the King’s Invitation?

Ecclesiastes  8:4 Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou? Ecclesiastes 8:4. Read: Matt 22:2-14

A king is a powerful entity that lives, rules and reigns with power and decree. His words are full of tremendous power, his word is a seal of authority over the voice of the multitude; when he speaks, it’s final. The king has the power to give life and to take life, when he pronounces blessings upon a person, such fellow is blessed forever, and when he pronounces curses and death upon a person, it’s done. The king’s invitation is honoured with fear and trembling because he can do and undo by his power. He is not to be disobeyed but to be obeyed.

Whoever doesn’t know the power of a king tries to play pranks with him. Disobeying the king’s invitation is tantamount to stepping upon a cobra’s tail which could be disastrous. According to our reading above, the king invited some people to his son’s wedding banquet, those invitees treated it with levity by giving excuses. He got angry and ordered them to be destroyed and they were all destroyed. And the king said to his servants, “Since the preferable are not available, let the available become the preferable”. Jesus has sent out free invitation for Salvation to everyone, rejecting it spells doom. “Jesus said, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. Matt 11:28.

* Remember, if you reject Jesus’s offer today, He will reject your pleading tomorrow.
