Text: Matthew 7:13-14 (KJV)

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Key Verse: “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” – (Matthew 7:14)

MESSAGE:

A group of fresh students were eager to move into the dormitory. Many of them struggled to be accommodated into the newly renovated building while those not too “smart” were contented with the old, unpainted building to the jeers of the apparently smarter ones. That was before rainfall. But when the rains came, the painted block leaked as if it had no roof. But the old building, undesired as it were, was intact. And so those who laughed last turned out to laugh best as the mockers became the mocked.

The book of Proverbs reveals that “there is a way which seemeth right unto a man but the end thereof are the ways of death”. The ways of death would seem attractive, permitting every sinful load and luggage. Our text warns us about the peril of desiring to get to heaven through the broad way. The broad way allows personal effects of sin – adultery, fornication, lying, cheating and all forms of evil and wickedness. And many are following that way that leads to hell.

To get to heaven, believers must walk in His steps. The narrow way is the way of true repentance, separation from the world of evil and self-denial.

Are you on the narrow way? Have you repented of your sins and accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour? If not, you can do it now and join the few that travel on the narrow way to heaven.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The narrow, hard way of today will be the way of rejoicing later for those who endure.
