Topic: Let Christ reign in your Life [Tuesday January 26, 2016]

Text: Micah 4:1-7

Key Verse: “And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever” (Micah 4:7)

Very often, some people settle for things that bring some benefits without having to work for them. They conclude that these must be blessings from God, though they live in complete disobedience to His rules and guidelines for life. In the event, they take God’s mercies for granted.

God’s desire is to be Lord and Master over the nation of Israel. But the people seemed to have forgotten this, having been buffeted by the bitter experiences of life. Yet, the Lord assured them that at the end of the age, He will reign as King over all the earth. And Jerusalem which had been invaded, occupied and destroyed so many times, will be the seat of His power. Many people on earth would flock there to be taught the right way to live to please Him. At the time, all wars will cease, and the Lord will rule in peace. All people will go about their daily business without fear; the people will make Him their God forever. At that time, the Lord will gather victims of the world’s wicked system; those that had been exiled to the furtherest parts of the earth. He will forgive their sins, receive them to Himself again and reign over them forever.

Unfortunately, at this time, many people on earth will continue to call on the name of their gods, but Israel “will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever”. As it will be at the end of time, so it is today. Real peace, happiness, joy and security can only be found in the Lord. His blessings are of superior quality compared to anything men may get elsewhere. But this is only for those who have entrusted their lives into His hands, who are now guided by God’s command and have made Him their Lord and Master. Once He reigns over one’s life, the best on earth and in eternity becomes his possession.

Thought for the day: God’s rest and best are reserved for those who pass His test
