Topic: Sound the Alarm! [Tuesday November 10, 2015]

Text: Isaiah 21:1-10

Key Verse: “For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth” (Isaiah 21:6).

In ancient times, it was customary to have watchmen in most cities. The watchmen essentially warned of impending danger, allowing people to prepare their defenses. Against the backdrop of war and imminent attack on Israel, God commanded prophet Isaiah to assume the role of a watchman. Isaiah is to look to a prophetic future and tell the people what he sees approaching.

He saw a chariot of horses and a couple of horsemen, and immediately began to lament for the destruction that is coming on the nation’s agricultural heritage, its economy and people at large. Like in Isaiah’s days, war rages in our world today. The expectation is that believers will assume the role of watchmen over the people they are called to lead. There is need for believers to take their stand, look at what is approaching and open their mouths and sound the warning loud and clear. When the watchman in our passage saw trouble approaching, he did not keep the message to himself. Instead, he opened his mouth and shouted out the warning for all to hear.

The enemy is doing everything he can today to invade the Church and lead us down the path of peril. Our home and family are also under severe attack. Children are being taught evolution in schools. The seat of learning has been high-jacked by the devil to teach the children that God is a myth from our repressed past. We must arise quickly and sound the alarm against evil before time eventually runs out.

Thought for the day: Your warning can save a soul in danger.
