There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. Proverbs 19:21. Read: 2 Sam 15:25-36
There are many devices in the heart of a man, but the counsel of the Lord shall surely stand. No man can defeat God’s counsel – though God can allow permissive will of a man to come to pass as in the case of the children of Israel who cried unto God for a king rejecting God as King over them. God granted their will but added leanness to it. Ps 106:15.
Our Bible reading is all about how God defeated the evil counsel of Ahithophel (David former counsellor after he joined forces with Absalom David’s son) against David. God can never allow the evil counsel of the enemies to come to pass in the lives of His faithful ones. When Absalom the son of David succeeded in turning the hearts of the people away from his father David, he went to Hebron to declare his reign while his father was still alive. And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I PRAY THEE, TURN the COUNSEL of AHITHOPHEL into FOOLISHNESS. God defeated Ahithophel counsel in 2 Samuel 17:23 And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.
