Topic: The Danger of Depression [Friday February 24, 2017]
Scripture: “Why art thou cast down O my soul? And why art thou disquieted in me? Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance” Psalm 42:5
Thought For The Day: Whenever a man is depressed, his reasoning is blocked.
Yesterday, we saw that depression is a killer of destiny; it was a challenge in the life of Prophet Elijah who could not confront and conquer Jezebel whom he was destined to handle.
Today, we want to look at the dangers of depression:
a. Depression is a major sponsor of oppression.
Depression opens the door for oppression; Satan is at work wherever depression is found.
b. It is a doorway to the destruction of destiny.
Depression is a psychiatric condition. People commit suicide and run mad when they are depressed. When a person agrees to sink into depression, he has surrendered his life to destruction.
c. Depression frustrates discretion and reasoning.
Whenever a man is depressed, his reasoning is blocked; he lacks the capacity to find solution because he is too depressed to think about a solution.
d. Depression decreases momentum.
A depressed person is a tired person. He sleeps tired and wakes up tired. Waking up in the morning is a battle because his energy is gone. On the other hand, an enthusiastic person gains momentum and is energetically vibrant.
Beloved, reject every trace of depression in your life in order to fulfil your destiny.
Remember this: Whenever a man is depressed, his reasoning is blocked.
