Dwelling In Understanding (Part 2) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Dwelling In Understanding (Part 2) Dear Reader, Last week, I started a teaching on how effective communication can help you in understanding your spouse. I also said that effective communication is the bedrock of every successful and meaningful relationship. Therefore, in understanding your spouse, communication line between both of you must continuously be open and effective. Looking at the Adam family, it is easy to appreciate the importance of effective communication. God commanded Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The Word of God says in Genesis 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Adam, I believe, failed to effectively communicate the seriousness of the instruction to Eve. She thought it was a minor issue. Also Read: God wants your Home to Succeed (Part 4) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo If you read the account carefully, you will find out that in Eve’s dialogue with the serpent, she mentioned that God said, not commanded: Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die (Genesis 3:1-3). But God did not just say it, He commanded it. She could easily be deceived because she lacked good understanding. This, however, is not an attempt to exonerate Eve for her misdeed. It is just to emphasis the essence of effective communication. There is need for every couple to ensure that there is effective communication between them because as you talk together, you will be able to discover and understand each other better. Understanding is what makes anything outstanding. If the relationship between you and your spouse must be outstanding, there must be effective communication. Lack of effective communication can lead to shame, like that of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Effective communication is a vital key in every successful relationship. I have proved it and it has worked for me and I am too sure that as you give yourself to the dictates of the Word of God on this matter, your relationship shall witness a total turnaround in Jesus’ name. While discussing with the serpent Eve showed that she lacked effective communication in her marriage. If she had a good communication link with her husband, I don’t think she would have had time to communicate with the serpent. Please, dear reader, maintain good communication channels with your spouse before he or she begins to communicate with the devil. You can make your home heaven by engaging in effective communication. Don’t assume you know each other well enough. Take time to talk together about your destiny and future. Talk with and about your children, talk about your finances. Discuss together about your dreams and goals in life and God will surely see to it that you do not fail. There are certain benefits derived from effective communication. Intimacy is one of them. To be intimate means to be detailed and obtain knowledge of somebody by deep study or long experience. Intimacy always bridges the gap of loneliness but when there is no togetherness and no communication, there cannot be intimacy. When there is no togetherness, a gap is created, and when a gap is created, the enemy is given the opportunity to come in. But as you share together your innermost dreams and aspirations as a couple, you gain advantage over the enemy. The scripture says in Ecclesiastes 4:9, Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. Also, it is written in Matthew 18:18, Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. It is not possible for you to gain full understanding of your spouse except by the help of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth and understanding. Your access to the Holy Spirit of God is by accepting Jesus, the giver of all understanding as the Lord of your life. Therefore, if you want to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, say this prayer, Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom. Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you.
