A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: Earthly Useful and Heavenly Useless. Pt One [20/11/2016]

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. Luke  12:15. Read: Lk 12:15-21

l came across a comment on one of the post of a popular prosperity preacher and it reads, “We must focus on the things of heaven and not earthly things”. A follower of the prosperity preacher replied and said, “We must not be heavenly minded and be earthly useless”. Wonderful! This means that, you must not say that you are pursuing heaven and become worthless on earth, that is, even as you are mindful not to miss heaven, you can still be useful on earth and still make it to heaven. The first comment was trying to say, look, don’t be earthly focused and become heavenly distracted (which is more important). After this series, we shall discuss detail on how one can achieve both.

Going by the first remark, we must be careful on how we pursue earthly things to the detriment of our heavenly home. Which is why the Bible says in 1 John  2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world”. Is it a sin to be rich or wealthy on earth? Of course no. It only becomes a sin when it is detrimental to your soul. Mk 8:36-37. We can be earthly useful and become heavenly worthless before God Almighty. The rich fool was earthly useful (to himself) and was heavenly useless in the sight of God. The series continues by God’s grace.
