As part of its commitment to supporting and empowering women globally, fastest growing and most innovative telecommunications company in Nigeria, Etisalat has announced its intention to partner with WEConnect International by co-sponsoring the first WEConnect International Exhibition and Matchmaker (WIEM) in Nigeria scheduled to take place at The Ruby Gardens, Lekki, Lagos between Monday, May 4 and Tuesday, May 5, 2015.

WEConnect International is an organization that identifies, educates and certifies business enterprises based outside the United States of America that are at least 51 per cent owned or managed by women and also connects them with multinational corporate buyers.

Speaking on the initiative, Director, Business Segment, Etisalat Nigeria, Lucas Dada explained that “Female economic power enhances the wealth and well-being of nations. That is why Etisalat is proud to partner with WEConnect International because it is committed to providing women with access to markets by facilitating connections with key procurement decision makers globally.’’

The participants at the two-day event will learn about the benefits of being certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) and buyers among them will be taught innovative solutions WBE’s can offer as well as the competitive advantage they provide for their brands.

WEConnect International began operating in Nigeria in January 2014.  The organization works with strategic partners, government agencies, corporate members, and outstanding women business owners to help the country’s women-owned businesses succeed in local and global value chains.
