Lagos, Nigeria; 10 February, 2015: The month-long auditions of the Etisalat-Sponsored Nigerian Idol Season 5 which kicked off on the 9th of January 2015 in the Ancient City of Benin came to its climax in the City of Lagos from the 7th till the 9th of February 2015.

Hundreds of contestants, each aspiring to be the next Nigerian Idol, flooded Dream Studios Omole Phase 1 with the intent to impress the show’s celebrity judges with their performances. The ambiance was that of genuine anticipation and unabridged excitement as aspirants waited patiently for their moment to perform their hearts out and secure their place in the competition.

Speaking about the auditions, Manager, Youth Segment at Etisalat Nigeria, Idiare Atimomo said that Etisalat is committed to discovering Nigerian talents and celebrating successful youths who can prove that they have exceptional gifts to make them emerge as a star.

Winner of Season four of Etisalat sponsored Nigerian Idol, Evelyn Zibili, expressed excitement about the plethora of enthusiasm beaming from the crowd. According to her “Nigerian Idol has been a fantastic opportunity for me to build my musical career and I am excited to see who will emerge as the winner in this season”.

An contestant, who made her way down from Port-Harcourt, Janet Ayoka, said ‘I auditioned in Port Harcourt a few weeks back but I didn’t make the cut. Choosing to give it another try, I am in Lagos now and I am hopeful that I will make it to the second stage. I am grateful to Etisalat for giving me and many other Nigerian youths the opportunity to showcase our talents on a huge and prestigious platform like Nigerian Idol’.

Other musical talents that graced the Etisalat-Sponsored Nigerian Idol auditions include hip-hop artistes, Kiss Daniel and Skales; and the winner of the 4th season of Etisalat-Sponsored Nigerian Idol, Evelle Zibili.

With the auditions over, Nigeria waits with bated breath as the fifth season of the Etisalat-sponsored Nigerian Idol grace television screens nationwide from the 1st of March 2015. This season, the winner of Nigerian Idol will be rewarded with a with N7.5 million cash reward, a brand new car, a recording deal with Universal Music Company worth N7.5 million and some high-end devices.

The first runner up will walk away with N1.5 million, a galaxy tab, a phone and an iPod. All other finalists will also receive N100, 000, a galaxy tab, a phone and an iPod.
