Memorise: “For the LORD thy God am a jealous God.” – Exodus 20:5b

Read: 1 Thessalonian 4.1-4

1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

Bible In One Year: Psalm 124-127, 1 Corinthians 7:1-24

MESSAGE:

Some people don’t believe it, but God has favourites. Many people think that He loves everybody the same, this is far from the truth. If you check through those that walked with Jesus very well, you will observe that He was closer to some than others. He had twelve disciples, but when He wanted to go for special prayers, He took Peter, James and John with Him. Amongst these three, John was yet His favourite. Whether you believe it or not, I am a favourite of God.

What does it take to be God’s favourite? Great love for Him. If you love God so much that you want to do His will at all times, you will be His favourite. If you always love to spend time with Him, you will be His favourite. Read your Bible often, never miss fellowship times, preach the gospel and avoid sin, then you will be one of God’s favourite. You need to also note that when there are special assignments to be done, God always sends His favourites. So as you become a favourite of God, get ready for special work and special rewards after the work is done.

Key Point:

Seek to be God’s favourite

Hymn 3:

1 There shall be showers of blessing
This is the promise of love;
There shall be season refreshing
Sent from the Savior above

Chorus:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drop ’round are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

2 There shall be showers of blessing
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.

3 There shall be showers of blessing
Send them upon us O Lord
Grant to us a refreshing;
Come now and honor Thy Word.

4 There shall be showers of blessing
Oh that today thy might fall,
Now as to God we are confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!
