Former U.N. Secretary-General and Egyptian diplomat Boutros Boutros-Ghali has died, the U.N. Security Council announced Tuesday.
He died in a Giza hospital at age 94.
Ghali served in the UN’s top office from 1992 to 1996.
He was the first African UN Secretary General.
Ghali oversaw the UN at a time when it dealt with several world crises, including the break-up of Yugoslavia and the Rwandan Genocide.
