TOPIC: Be Fortified

READ: Luke 24:49-53 King James Version (KJV)

49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

50 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.

51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.

52 And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,

53 and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.

THE MESSAGE:

Few days ago, I watched a movie where a group of people were to embark on a suicidal mission, otherwise called mission impossible, but before they were to embark on the said mission, they were warned by the eyes of their god (local deity) not to go out without being fortified for necessary protection.

Though this is the warning from a molten god, the similarity to what our Lord Jesus stated in our text today is obvious.

“But stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24: 49b). Anyone who wants to embark on the ministry assignment at any level needs the same fortification by the Spirit of ministry. The Spirit of God is a Spirit of might, and of power, as well as knowledge, of understanding, of counsel, of love, and of sound mind, to inspire with courage and boldness to confront our common enemy. Without this equipment, it is absolutely absurd to embark on a ministry mission. The same warning is repeated in Acts 1:4. It is very vital not to go without the clothing of the Holy Spirit. Those who tried it have made shipwreck of their ministry, hence the warning. Be clothed to become relevant in ministry.

PRAYER: Lord, let Your spirit cloth me with tremendous strength and power for the assignment before me.
