Topic: God’s Presence in Your Home (2)
Dear Reader,
There is a popular inscription found in most Christian homes which says, “Christ is the head of this home, the unseen guest at every meal, the silent listener to every conversation.” Yet, a lot of such families don’t enjoy peace because, to them, Christ is only a picture and an inscription; He is not really the head of their home.
The Bible says Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). When He is given His rightful place in the home, absolute peace is guaranteed. So, let Jesus be the head of your home in truth and indeed. Believe His Word, receive His instructions and obey them, and perfect peace and joy will soon become permanent features in your home. That is why this week, I will be sharing with you God’s presence guarantees lasting peace!
The presence of God in a home means lasting peace. When there is peace, there will also be unity among the members of the family and when there is unity, the blessings of God just keep flowing. These blessings include promotion, success in your various endeavours, health, prosperity, divine direction, etc. A family that lacks God’s presence will lack the pleasures and joy that His presence carries. That family will suffer setbacks like lack of peace, stagnation, unfruitfulness, sorrow, hardship, sicknesses, disunity and lack of joy. Look at this testimony:
“My parents lived apart since 1970, and we have been praying about it. Late last year, the Lord instructed me to go home. The Lord had earlier told me that this is my year. So, I travelled home in December. He said I should fast for three days and go round my father’s house seven times each day, anointing the four corners of the house. I obeyed.
On the second day, I went to my father and brought up the issue, appealing to him to allow my mother to move into the new house. He said he would do it when the time comes. He said my mother was staying with his 94 year-old mother, who might feel lonely if my mother left her. To the glory of God, two days after this discussion, God called the old woman to glory.
After the burial ceremony, we went back to him and raised the issue again. My father said he had told us not to worry him, that he would do it when the time comes. I was to come back to Lagos the following day. I went to the room, but did not know what to do. Then my eye fell on my parents’ wedding picture of 1947. I brought it down and anointed it with the anointing oil, and said, ‘God, You ordained the institution of marriage and You said what You have put together, no man should put asunder. I want You to do this for me’. I then returned to Lagos. To the glory of God, two weeks ago I was informed that my mother had moved in and that they are now living peacefully together!” – Omije, C.
There is no problem without a solution in the Word of God. Create time to study God’s Word, both as individuals and as a family. That is where you find real and lasting peace. The peace of God is for all times and all situations; it does not depend on anything else or the kind of situation around you. God’s peace is available even in the midst of war.
Exodus 14:14 says: The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Don’t let the pressures of life overcome you. Hold your peace and let the Lord fight for you! Any issue that is threatening to tear your home apart, hand it over to God in prayers; He can handle it (Matthew 19:26).
With this key in your hand, no enemy will be able to disturb the peace of your home any more. You will begin to handle your family matters effortlessly from henceforth, as you receive God’s Word today. God has given you peace, go forth and enjoy it, in Jesus’ Name!
The peace you need in your family can be given to you by surrendering your life to Christ because He is the Prince of peace. If you are ready to surrender your life to Christ, please say this prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the living God. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”
If you prayed this simple prayer, you are now a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).
