Topic: God’s Presence in Your Home (4)

Dear Reader,

Compliments of the season! I hope you are set for the celebration? May the blessings of the season become your portion in Jesus’ name! I have taught on godly atmosphere, God’s presence guarantees peace and supplication in Prayer.  This week, I will be teaching on Doing Away with Worries.

To maintain God’s presence, you must guard against worries and anxiety.  Stop worrying about issues, whether major or minor.  Be it your children’s school fees, what to eat, or your spouses’ wrong doings, stop worrying.  Allow the peace of God to reign in your heart and home.  The Word of God says:  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).

Stop worrying because it does not increase anyone; rather, it reduces one’s confidence in God.  If you lose confidence in the One who is for you, you open the door for all that are against you to enter.  Those who trust in God are always rewarded with fulfilment of His promises, while those who do not, undoubtedly, reap worries and fear.  You must, therefore, let God and His Word dwell richly in you (Colossians 3:16).  You must read the Word, meditate and practise it.  An absolute trust in God and His Word is the only lasting solution.

One major and lasting cure for worries is an absolute trust in God and in His Word.  The Word of God says:  Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation (Isaiah 12:2). The same Word is repeated in Psalms 125:1-2. Trusting God and His Word will always ease tension created by fear.  No matter the case, God’s Word will get to the real cause of the problem and deal with it.

Discovering God’s Word and holding on to it gives encouragement and re-builds broken confidence.  An example of re-built confidence and trust is the case of Hannah.  Hannah was given to worries and sorrows, while she believed God for a child.  Her worries and tears produced nothing for her, until she decided to trust God (I Samuel 1:15 and 18).  She wiped her tears, ate and her countenance was no longer full of worries.

If you want results and unending victory, then what is written and what you believe must always be in agreement.   All that you need, in order to do away with worries of this life, is in the Word of God.  A total belief and correct application will hand it over to you.

Look at this testimony:

“In my extended family, most young men toil and at the end of the day, have nothing to show for it. I was in church one day, when Bishop David Oyedepo declared that everyone believing God for a job would get one before the year ran out. The Bishop shared a testimony of a young man who heard the same declaration in a service in 2003 and got employed on December 27, 2003.

Meanwhile, I believed God for a job since February 2004, so I tapped into that testimony. To the glory of God, on December 29, 2004, I received my employment letter!” – Akabuike, F.

It is not too late, I see God giving you your own testimony before the end of this year in Jesus’ name. Therefore, until you discover the joy of God’s Word concerning issues that are your heart’s desire and apply them, worries will never leave you alone.

Cure for worries

The cure for worries is giving thanks to God.  The Word of God says:  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (I Thessalonians 5:18). Giving thanks to God in everything is the will of God for you in all situations of life. Thanksgiving is appreciation or gratitude to someone for a favour.

However, in this case, thanksgiving means showing appreciation to God for His faithfulness.  The Word of God says:  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 4:6). No matter how much you pray and supplicate, if thanksgiving is not included, your prayer has missed its route to heaven.

The grace to overcome worries can only be given by surrendering your life to Christ.  If you are ready for this new experience, please say this prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today.  I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the living God.  I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”

If you prayed this simple prayer, you are now a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).
