Topic: God’s View Concerning Marriage (Part 4)

Dear Reader,

We have seen that God’s view about marriage is good. It is to provide help for man. Last week, we received God’s instruction for finding a mate. This week, I want us to see how to get the best of God in our family life by Turning Your Home into a Praise Centre.

The Bible says: Let the people praise thee. Oh God let all the people praise thee THEN shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us (Psalm 67:5-6). Turn your home into a praise centre, a place where the praises of God dwell all the time. My Husband often says, “There’s nothing you praise God for that reduces.” So, if you want increases, praise Him now!

When you turn your home into a praise centre, increases come your way. When you give God praises, obstacles are turned to miracles. If things are not working, give God praise for that is the only way to turn them on. Murmuring doesn’t allow the help of God to reach man. Are you in need of the fruit of the womb? Instead of bemoaning your case, complaining and murmuring, wait on God in praises. He is by far able to make you fruitful.

If you are offended in God, who will be your defender? You slept and woke up today, not because you are so strong and powerful, but because God watched over you, protecting you in the night and then woke you up in the morning. How fortunate you are!

What is that situation in your family that the devil wants to use to turn you against your Creator? Refuse to give up; your deliverance is coming your way. Refuse to allow your head to be cast down, rather, switch over to praising the Lord. Depression causes a blockage of the mind. You can no longer think straight and God cannot speak to you. God’s Word says: Mine eyes also are dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow (Job 17:7). Sorrow, dejection, and depression are destroyers. They hinder God’s blessings. They have destroyed many homes; don’t let them destroy yours. When the devil tries to get you depressed, let your mouth sings His praises, begin to dance, rejoice and put the devil to shame. God’s Word says: Out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry and I will MULTIPLY… (Jeremiah 30:19).

Jesus Christ is our perfect example. He thanked God when He saw a boy with five loaves and two fishes and God multiplied these to feed 5,000 people. Why? It is because He knew that thanking God for what you have causes Him to multiply it miraculously. Thank God for that little money your husband has given you or for that job, no matter how low the salary is.

The Lord Jesus even had 12 baskets of remnants from five loaves and two fishes. How did He do this? He gave genuine thanks from His heart. God sees your heart, He knows if you are truly thanking Him or whether you are just putting up a show.

My husband, even in the early days of our marriage when he had two coats, was always rejoicing and ever joyful. God has since then been faithful and lifted him to the point that He gives out suits now in large numbers, to those whom God tells Him are in need.

It is a scriptural law that whatever you thank God for never decreases, but multiplies. Thank Him for your present financial status and, in due season, as you faithfully apply all you have learnt, He will promote you to the heights you have never imagined.

Many homes are in financial crisis today because they have developed an attitude of ingratitude, murmuring and complaining. Perhaps you have tried many things, yet there seems to be no way out of financial hardship. Why not give thanks to God for keeping you alive? Murmuring cannot give you the solution or the answer you desire. If you murmur against God, who will bring you out of that situation? Surely no man is reliable; it is only God who is reliable. My husband once said, “You must stop protesting and then start praising God.” Another servant of God said, “When you stop appreciating God, you start depreciating in life.” You cannot enjoy refreshing in your family if you are always complaining, murmuring and grumbling about issues in your home.

When you wake up in the morning and you only have garri to eat without meat, why not say in the presence of your family members, “Lord, thank You for giving us what to eat even though there is no meat to add to this one today? We thank You for giving us the appetite to eat this food. Tomorrow, we know that You will add every other thing required.” Begin to make pronouncement of thanksgiving. Make it a lifestyle in your home. Let every member of your family know the essence of appreciating God. Let gratitude, praises and thanksgiving come from their hearts for what God has done so far for you.

The grace to praise God in every situation can only come by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. If you are ready for this new birth experience, please say this prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).
