The senate has passed for first reading a bill to establish grazing reserves for cattle across the country.

The bill, which was sponsored by Rabiu Kwankwaso, a senator from Kano central, is titled ‘National Grazing Reserves Agency Bill, 2016′.

It was read the first time at the senate on Wednesday.

A similar bill had scaled second reading‎ in the house of representatives, stirring controversy and public outcry.

The bill‎ is coming at time that there have been reports of attacks by herdsmen across the country.

The killings in Nimbo, Enugu state and Agatu in Benue state‎, are some of the recent reported attacks.
