Memorise: So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. – Revelation 3:16

Read: Revelation 3:15-19

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Bible In One Year: Proverbs 28-29, 2 Corinthians 7

MESSAGE:

There are certain signs that show that a person is getting cold spiritually. When you start looking for excuses not to attend church services anymore, when you prefer to listen to secular music rather than gospel, when you no longer find reading your bible interesting or when a five minute prayer is now looking too long to you, you are getting cold.

When you notice these things there are certain things that you must immediately begin to do. The bible says iron sharpened iron (Proverbs 27:17), so ensure you resume attending church and participating in church in activities. Then go on a personal retreat where you will rededicate your life to God. The most effective thing to do is to fast. Fasting helps to kill the flesh and awaken the spirit. Make sure that while you fast, you are feeding on the word of God and praying constantly.

Key Point:

It is only a cold Christian that the devil can touch, the hot ones will burn him if you he tries to touch them.

Hymn 7:

1 I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Chorus:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

4 There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
