Topic: Impacting Lives? [Open Heavens for Teens 16 May 2019]

Memorise: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16

Read: 1 Samuel 22:1-2

  1. David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.
  2. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

Bible In One Year: 2 Kings 15-17, John 6:1-21

MESSAGE:

No one is a Christian indeed if the people around you do not feel your impact. In 1 Samuel 22, while David was in the cave of Adullum, all kinds of problem laden people came to him. He didn’t send any of them away or think himself better than them; He took all of them under his wings and became responsible of them. Unfortunately, this type of story has become very rare these days. Less and less people look out for the needy. Many have several opportunities to help the poor or impact lives, but rather than do that, they give excuses. Some think of themselves to highly to be in the company of the needy.

If you , as young as you are, do not have anyone or a group of people that you can boldly say you impact positively, then something is wrong. The Bible says that Christ went about doing good; healing the sick and delivering the oppressed from the devil. That doesn’t sound to me like He stayed among the rich in the society. No, Jesus went in search of those He could impact positively and He did. Look around you, there is surely someone who has less than you, there is someone who needs an encouraging word from you today, there is someone you can make feel better. Why don’t you.

Prayer Point: Father, please make my life have more impact on people in Jesus’ name.

Hymn 13:

1 Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is the love of God flowing through you?
Are you telling the lost of the Savior?
Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

2 Is your life a channel of blessing?
Are you burdened for those that are lost?
Have you urged upon those who are straying
The Savior who does on the cross

3 Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is it a daily telling for Him?
Have you spoken the word of salvation?
To those who are dying in sin?

4 We cannot be channels of blessing
If our lives are not free from sin;
We will barriers be and a hindrance
To those we are trying to win.
