READ: Genesis 27:27-30

  1. And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed:
  2. Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:
  3. Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.
  4. And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Nehemiah 12-13, Acts 4:23-37

MESSAGE:

One day, I had just returned from a journey, and while at the airport, I carried a heavy bag in each hand. Two of my children in the Lord came to welcome me; the first one that got to me greeted me while the other one took the bags immediately. I turned to the latter and said God bless you. The other one who had made no move to help with the bags said Daddy, you did not say God bless you to me. I replied, You saw me carrying two bags, but you didn’t help. If you want your father to bless you, provoke him to do so.

My child, the blessings of a father are irreversible as seen in today’s memory verse. If your father blesses you, you will remain blessed, but if he curses you, you will remain cursed. What you do will determine what you will get. Esau got the remnant of Jacob’s blessings, yet, when he was to meet with his brother after a long time, he had 400 men as escorts (Genesis 33:1). Imagine what would have happened if Jacob hadn’t stolen the blessings from him. If you have been provoking your parents to anger, you better change today so that they can start blessing you.

ACTION POINT:

Do something that will provoke your father to bless you today.

Hymn 3: All To Jesus I Surrender

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    All to Him I freely give;
    I will ever love and trust Him,
    In His presence daily live.

Chorus:
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Humbly at His feet I bow;
    Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
    Take me, Jesus, take me now.
  2. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Lord, I give myself to Thee;
    Fill me with Thy love and power,
    Let Thy blessing fall on me.
  3. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Now I feel the sacred flame;
    O the joy of full salvation!
    Glory, glory to His name!
