Dekina local government area came from behind to beat their Kabba/Bunu counterparts 2-1 in Tuesday’s Kogi State Governor’s Cup semifinal match played at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium.

Goals from Emmanuel Onoja and Apeh Omatigba overcame Owoku Bidemi’s early lead handed the Okoliko Egbunu’s side a comeback victory and set-up an all Kogi Eastern district final with Omala.

After narrow loss, head coach of the Kabba/Bunu team, Shina Akande said his side would have sailed past Dekina but admitted they crashed out due to poor motivation and pledged the team would bounce back next time.

For the winning team’s captain, Onoja Emmanuel said their victory against Kabba was for his side like a walk in the park as he set sight on overcoming Omala to lift the governor’s Cup stressing that they are not scared of their fellow-finalists.

On the road to final, Dekina earlier sneaked past 2-1 Okehi local government in the quarter-final to reach the semi-final.

Other finalists Omala thrashed Igalamela/Odolu 6-0 and Kogi 6-1 in the quarter and semi-final stages respectively.

The final between Omala and Dekina will hold on September 26 at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium.
