The Kogi State chapter of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, YSFON, will hold rescheduled screening of young talented boxers in the state on Friday, May 22.

The state chairman of YSFON, Alhaji Nnda Umar Collins explained that the shift of the earlier fixed screening exercise date was due to low turn-out recorded last time which only had seven in attendance.

He explained that all is set for the screening to take place on Friday and expects young and upcoming boxers to seize the opportunity to get recruited into the state boxing team.

Umar said that the exercise scheduled to come up at the Kogi Township Stadium is restricted to boxers within the age of 13-23.

According to him, Kogi will alongside at least 12 states participate in the proposed Nigeria Grassroots Boxing League which will be bankrolled by the manufacturers of energy drink – Bullet.

Successfully screened boxers from the exercise will represent the state in the yet-to-be-scheduled league with sponsors, Bullet to bore the wages of coaches and boxers in the course of the competition.
