Memorise: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; “ – 1 Timothy 2:1

Read: 1 Timothy 2:1-3

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 36-37, Philemon 1

MESSAGE:

The desire to be a leader is good. It shows that you see a need to help and serve others. But the role of a leader is a serious and difficult one. This is why you need to be prayerful if you truly desire to be a good leader. It is through prayers that you can rightly lead. Without prayer, you can take wrong advice or be easily manipulated and you will definitely take wrong actions.

Praying signifies that you are still connected to God, and that you acknowledge that your leadership is by His grace. Why do you think some people removed as prefects in school? They must have mishandled or misrepresented their position which happens because they are leading without God’s involvement. You need to understand that you need spiritual assistance. Moreover, there are people who envy your position and are willing to do anything to get it. You need to be very prayerful so that you won’t lose what should truly be yours.

KEY POINT:

Stay connected to God.

Hymn 1:

  1. My faith looks up to Thee,
    Thou Lamb of Calvary,
    Savior divine!
    Now hear me while I pray,
    Take all my guilt away,
    Oh, let me from this day
    Be wholly Thine!
  2. May Thy rich grace impart
    Strength to my fainting heart,
    My zeal inspire!
    As Thou hast died for me,
    Oh, may my love to Thee
    Pure, warm and changeless be,
    A living fire!
  3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
    And griefs around me spread,
    Be Thou my guide;
    Bid darkness turn to day,
    Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
    Nor let me ever stray
    From Thee aside.
  4. When ends life’s transient dream,
    When death’s cold sullen stream
    Shall o’er me roll;
    Blest Savior, then, in love,
    Fear and distrust remove;
    Oh, bear me safe above,
    A ransomed soul.
