Memorise: “Blessed is the man that walketh in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” – Psalm 1:1

Read: Proverbs 13:20

20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

Bible In One Year: Joshua 9-10, Luke 3

MESSAGE:

Teenagers always tend to underestimate the power of bad company. It is either they are thinking that they can’t be influenced by bad company or they are thinking that just sticking around bad company who isn’t really their friend will cause no damage. You need to realise that humans, especially teenagers, get influenced easily; they see something often enough and unknowingly start copying what they see. If you have good habits and hang around those with bad habits, you will soon find yourself developing bad habits.

You have to be very careful of the friends you keep. You have to be even more careful of those who you can’t necessarily call your friends, but you hang around often. The devil uses such people to put damaging ideas in the minds of God’s children. Those ideas eventually tear down the lives of many previously good children and it then takes the special grace of God to bring them back.

Action Point: Always deliberately leave location of bad company.

Hymn 7:

1. I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Chorus:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
