Memorise: These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

BIBLE READING: 1 KINGS 17:8-16

8 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,

9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

Bible Reading In One Year: Psalms 73-74; Romans 5:1-21

MESSAGE:

Hope is a four-Letter word that has become very scarce in the world today. A lot of people are sad, desperate and hopeless. This however, should never be the case for a Christian. Jesus is the hope of the world and we have free access to Him. Jesus says in John 14:19 that because He lives, we will live also. There is a saying that when there is life, there is hope. Also, in John 16:33, Jesus Christ says that in this world there would be tribulations but we are to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world!. Again, in Romans 8:37, the word of God says we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.

Dear child, what seemingly hopeless situation are you in?, Have you brought it to Jesus?, If yes, then that situation is not hopeless at all. God is working behind the scene to give you the expected end concerning that situation. You just need to remain positive and constantly speak life and positive words to that situation.

Prayer Point:

Lord Jesus, I put my hope in you. Please end every hopeless situation in my life right now.

Hymn: My Faith Looks Up To Thee

  1. My faith looks up to Thee,
    Thou Lamb of Calvary,
    Saviour divine!
    Now hear me while I pray,
    Take all my guilt away;
    O let me from this day
    Be wholly Thine.
  2. May Thy rich grace impart
    Strength to my fainting heart,
    My zeal inspire;
    As Thou hast died for me,
    O may my love to Thee
    Pure, warm, and changeless be,
    A living fire.
  3. While life’s dark maze | tread,
    And griefs around me spread,
    Be Thou my guide;
    Bid darkness turn to day,
    Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
    Nor let me ever stray
    From Thee aside.
  4. When ends life’s transient dream,
    When death’s cold, sullen stream
    Shall o’er me roll, Blest Saviour, then in love,
    Fear and distrust remove;
    O bear me safe above,
    A ransomed soul.
